SKINCARE ESSENTIALS
The “secret” to my glowing skin isn’t all the clean skincare products I use, yes those definitely make a difference and lessen my overall toxic burden for my liver to handle, BUT those are secondary…
Sunlight, proper mineralized hydration, and supporting my internal environment (specifically my gut and liver) are three key things I consider essential
1) I spend time in unfiltered sunlight everyday (preferably before 1pm when the sun isn’t at its strongest). Using sunscreen isn’t needed as I supplement with Vitamin E, and avoid seed oils and traditional sunscreens are packed with toxic chemicals that stress the liver.
2) I hydrate with clean, filtered, and remineralized water to retain elasticity and ensure cell health and turnover. Our Clean Air & Water page has more info on how to clean your water, and how to make sure you’re adding the right minerals that allow water to enter your cells. If you have dry skin, it’s likely due to dehydration. You can’t out-moisturize dehydration.
3) I am always working on supporting, balancing, and cleaning my liver and gut with coffee enemas, seasonal detoxes, parasite cleanses, quality food, gut and liver-supporting herbs, and other incredible tools and products I’ve found over the years. All of my favorite skincare products and tools are below, but I encourage you to visit our detox and gut health pages for more info on how to support those essential organs.
Here are a few other tips for improving your skin health:
- Minimize the products you put on your skin - don’t overdo it thinking more is always better
- A lot of hair products have ingredients that clog pores, cause aging, and can damage the skin. When you leave those hair products in at night, they rub off onto your pillow and your skin soaks them up all night. Make sure to check the ingredients in your hair care products and make sure they aren’t working against your skincare goals.
- Protect your skin from blue light and toxins in the air with a protective product like Ion Skin, and minimize blue light exposure.
No matter what your skincare goals, be it increasing collagen, reducing scars, or minimizing the appearance of wrinkles, the three essentials above should not be overlooked.
The essential next step is switching out your skincare, haircare, makeup, and body care for the less toxic alternative.
